After seven seasons, American Idol is shaking things up.
The show is adding a fourth judge - Grammy-nominated singer Kara DioGuardi.
Cue siren sounds - somewhere Paula is having a panic attack.
The show’s creator, Simon Fuller, released a statement saying, “She is a smart, sassy lady, and one of America’s most successful songwriters. We know she will bring a new level of energy and excitement to the show.”
She has apparently written songs for Christina Aguilera, Gwen Stefani, Celine Dion, Faith Hill, Pink, Britney Spears, Miley Cyrus, the Jonas Brothers, Jessica Simpson and Nick Lachey.
The show was originally slated to have four judges, like the original Pop Idol in the UK.
Paula emerged from her Percocet haze long enough to be interviewed by an Arizona radio show.
She sounded less than thrilled about the addition and said the new team will start judging together tomorrow.
Let’s just hope Kara doesn’t mistakenly take a sip from Paula’s cup.
